Cambridge Prisms: Plastics is launching Future Directions, a new article series designed to identify where plastics policy, practice, and research should go next.
Future Directions articles will provide concise, evidence-based assessments of important and emerging issues related to plastics and plastic pollution. Rather than simply reviewing existing knowledge, these articles will critically assess what is known, identify areas of consensus and uncertainty, expose important evidence gaps, and set out clear priorities and credible pathways for future policy, practice and research.
Each article will focus on a single, well-defined topic where a critical synthesis of the evidence can help move the field forward. Articles will follow the title format “Future Directions for [topic]”, signalling their emphasis on shaping future agendas and identifying practical routes towards progress.
Some examples:
- Future directions for inclusive plastics governance
- Future directions for sustainable polymer design
- Future directions for plastics and human health
- Future directions for microplastics policy
- Future directions for consumer behaviour change on plastics
We welcome your ideas
We are keen to hear from researchers, practitioners, and other experts about issues that should be included in the Future Directions series. You can propose an article you would like to write or simply suggest an important issue that you think the series should address.
If you have an idea for a Future Directions article, please let us know here.
If you are interested in authoring an article, please contact plastics@cambridge.org and grazia.iaffaldano@cambridge.org before preparing your submission, so that we can discuss the idea and confirm that the proposed topic is not already being covered.
