The information given here is provided by the IMA Commission on New Minerals, Nomenclature and Classification for comparative purposes and as a service to mineralogists working on new species.
Each mineral is described in the following format:
Mineral name, if the authors agree on its release prior to the full description appearing in press
Chemical formula (ideal formula)
Mineral symbol
Type locality
Full authorship of proposal
E-mail address of corresponding author
Relationship to other minerals
Crystal system, Space group; Structure determined, yes or no
Unit-cell parameters
Strongest lines in the powder X-ray diffraction pattern
Type specimen repository and specimen number
Citation details for the mineral prior to publication of full description
Citation details concern the fact that this information will be published in the Mineralogical Magazine on a routine basis, as well as being added month by month to the commission’s website.
It is still a requirement for the authors to publish a full description of the new mineral.
No other information will be released by the commission

Other issues
Re-writing of the chemical formula of santanaite
In the IMA List of Minerals the chemical formula of santanaite is given as Pb11CrO16. The above formula is oversimplified and does not reflect the presence of lead in both the Pb2+ and Pb4+ oxidation states, as detailed in the original publication [Neues Jahrbuch für Mineralogie Monatshefte, 1972, 455–458]. A more correct formula is Pb2+9Pb4+2(CrO4)O12. Thanks to Frank de Wit for pointing this out.
Correct space group for shojiite
The correct space group of the new mineral shojiite (IMA No. 2024-023a) is P21/m, and not C2/m as wrongly reported in CNMNC Newsletter 87.
