We are very happy to be able to publish in this issue both Stephen Mihm’s 2025 Presidential Address, “The Business of Labor,” delivered at the Annual Meeting in Athens, Georgia, last year, and Manuel A. Bautista González’s Krooss Prize Summary, originally shortlisted and presented at the 2024 Annual Meeting in Providence, Rhode Island. Manuel’s thesis was entitled “Gold and Silver Chains. The New Orleans Specie Market under International Bimetallism, 1839-1861.”
Challenging personal circumstances prevented both Stephen and Manuel from meeting the original deadlines for submitting their written texts. It is, then, an especial pleasure and privilege to be able to bring both pieces to our readership in this issue. Both are very fine pieces that we are sure will find a wide and appreciative audience.
