During excavations as part of re-ordering works human remains were disturbed both in the churchyard and within the church. The deputy chancellor inspected the site and concluded that the remains were human, disarticulated, ancient and impossible to identify. The deputy chancellor observed that had this taken place in a country churchyard he would have ordered the seemly re-interment of the remains in an appropriate open area of the churchyard. This was an urban churchyard which had been closed for many decades; in the circumstances, the deputy chancellor directed that all remains, including any subsequently discovered as part of the works, should be securely and reverently stored together in a container in the church office and all such remains should be re-interred in a seemly fashion at the location where the remains inside the church had been discovered.
