Response
On behalf of all co-authors, I thank Bhat and Underwood for providing more specific information on the situation in the UK. Their response indicates that even the UK model, often regarded as a benchmark for best practices, is not sufficient to meet their future societal demands. These data underscore the urgent need to consolidate our efforts across Europe and serve as an appeal to both national and international psychiatric organisations to pool their resources. National psychiatric associations that do not currently have a dedicated section on old age psychiatry are explicitly welcome to collaborate. We hereby invite all such organisations to join in a unified approach aimed at optimally supporting the mental health of our older population.
