In this article, I used the phrase ‘choreographies of violence’ when discussing the performance of different forms of violence. Although it was never intended as a core concept in the article, I would like to acknowledge that this choice of wording came out of informal conversations with a graduate school colleague, Jessica Krug, with whom I had many enriching discussions about the nature and performance of violence in history. Such informal and often subconscious influences, when brought to one’s attention, are worth acknowledging as a part of the economy of knowledge production. This addendum does not change the historical findings of the article.
