The chancellor granted a faculty for phase 1 of a substantial internal re-ordering scheme for this Grade II listed church. Objections were received from the Victorian Society and a local resident, though neither chose to become a formal objector. Significant objections were raised in relation to the creation of a flexible hall or meeting space in the chancel behind a screen. The petitioners proposed the installation of a liquid crystal screen for this purpose, which would be transparent until an electric current was activated whereupon it would appear white and opaque. The chancellor found that this screen was an important feature in mitigating the harm that the re-ordering would otherwise cause to the interior of the church. [RA]
