Several courses and workshops on different interesting aspects were held during the week, early in the mornings before the oral scientific presentations. Among them were: Minerals Identification, Electron Microscopy in the Study of Cultural Heritage Materials, Electron Microscopy, Supramolecular Crystal Chemistry, Crystal Structure Refinement by the Rietveld Method, Gemology, The Structure–Property Relationships in Materials, and The Use of the Powder Diffraction File.
An important aspect of the meeting was that the majority of the attendees were graduate students and young scientists (Figure 4). They participated enthusiastically in the different workshops and courses. The evening poster sessions also provided the occasion for everyone to meet in a relaxed atmosphere and discuss the excellent multidisciplinary scientific program of the meeting.
