The chapter starts by treating the model for dynamics of a discrete ordinal behavioral variable; some attention is given to recoding variables if they originally have a large number of values (perhaps on a continuous scale). Like the model for network dynamics, this model is based on the assumption that the behavior variable changes at unobserved moments (the ministeps) by the smallest possible amount (one step up or down). For the ministeps, the model is specified as a conditional multinomial logit model. Combining this with network dynamics, the model for co-evolution of behavior and a network is defined. From the point of view of the behavior, this amounts to endogenizing the network; from the point of view of the network, it amounts to endogenizing the behavior. Both models are first defined in conceptual terms, and then the mathematical formulation is given.
