Summary

So there we have it: ‘my story’ – a somewhat kaleidoscopic account of aspects of this little life and its artistic journey: seemingly, related fragments. Much of it perhaps “not what I meant, at all”. A kind of dreamscape.

Curiously, for someone at least loosely associated with the production of art within the context of ‘spirituality’ – a term I have already expressed severe misgivings about, although might grudgingly accept on the basis of there being few better alternatives – I appear to have avoided reference to the proverbial elephant in the room. For all the talk of ‘non-duality’, ‘oneness’, ‘not twoness’, ‘unicity’, ‘wholeness’… nowhere have I mentioned the underlying notion which all such arcane expressions perhaps point to – love.

Why such a crucial omission on my part? It should be clear from the relatively ‘heart on sleeve’ sensibility of my words that perhaps untypically for an artist, I am happy to lay bare certain motives and potential layers of meaning in my artistic output.

Yet even I would draw the line at attempting to unpack the unspeakable implications of that one ‘simple’ word as it relates to… everything, I suppose. And what exactly might that mean? I have not a clue: somewhere, somehow, it just feels right – no more than a tacit hunch but it just feels right; love equals everything. My hope is that my work can at least aspire to somehow celebrating the breadth and depth of its mystery.
