Summary
The industrialization of America created a Gilded Age of wealth and excess, at the same time as the Great Plains and West were settled and the population grew at a tremendous rate. Industrialization enlarged cities, which created new urban neighborhoods for new immigrants. The Great Depression caused a pause in this rapid growth, which again accelerated for World War II.
