Call for Special Issue contributions
Special Issue: Inclusive ageing: challenges and opportunities
Ageing & Society is inviting submission of abstracts between 200-250 words for paper contributions to a Special Issue in the area of inclusive ageing: challenges and opportunities. The experience of ageing is affected by pervasive inequalities between individuals across the lifecourse. Submissions are welcome to focus on the experiences of specific groups in society, for instance under-researched groups, focusing on particular demographic, health and/or socio-economic characteristics. Papers can also focus on different geographical levels at which inequalities in ageing are experienced, for example local, regional, national or international. We encourage submissions which use wide-ranging theoretical and/or methodological approaches, including qualitative, quantitative and/or mixed methods approaches, and which have the potential to improve our understanding of disparities between individuals or groups of individuals. Papers which adopt an intersectional approach to the study of inequalities in ageing are particularly welcome.
Submissions are expected to be aligned with the journal’s aims & scope:
Ageing & Society is an interdisciplinary and international journal devoted to advancing the understanding of ageing and the circumstances of older people in their socio-economic and cultural contexts. The journal is committed to publishing original and high-quality research papers that substantially contribute to ongoing debates in social gerontology. Ageing & Society welcomes submissions using different theoretical and methodological approaches as long as they aim to advance research, policy and practice and encourage the exchange of ideas across the broad audience of multidisciplinary academics and practitioners working in the field of ageing.
