We are delighted to announce that all articles accepted for publication in The Cambridge Classical Journal from 19 November 2025 will be ‘open access’; published with a Creative Commons licence and freely available to read online (see the journal’s Open Access Options page for available licence options).

We have an OA option for every author: the costs of open access publication will be covered through agreements between the publisher and the author’s institution, payment of APCs for those with third-party funding, or else waived entirely, ensuring every author can publish and enjoy the benefits of OA.

The Cambridge Classical Journal is fully open access and publishes high-quality scholarly articles in all areas of Greek and Roman studies: literature, philology, philosophy, history, art & archaeology, reception, history of scholarship. CCJ has a publication history dating back to 1882 and is well known for some classic pieces which have changed the direction of the field. It is the journal of the Cambridge Philological Society but invites submissions from all scholars.
