This issue marks the end of my third and final term as editor-in-chief of Enterprise and Society. It has been a privilege and an honor to serve in this role. My aim has always been to reflect the breadth, depth, and originality of the work generated by our incredible global business history research community, and I believe that together we—the entire editorial team, our reviewers, our authors, and our readers—have achieved just that. I relinquish the role happy in the knowledge that I have such an able and inspiring successor in Professor Ai Hisano, University of Tokyo. Ai and I have been working together closely for the past several months, and I am certain she is going to take the journal to new heights, leading it with verve and insight. In his sign-off, my predecessor, Phil Scranton, said that he had had a terrific time in the role. I have too—it has been fun!
Turning to this issue, we have another tremendous line-up, which kicks off with Rowena Olegario’s thrilling 2026 Presidential Address on “Co-Creation: Who Counts as Creators?” delivered at the annual meeting in London in March of this year. Rowena’s address is followed by summaries of the three dissertations shortlisted for the Krooss Prize. This year the finalists were Cody Patton, with “Nature’s Brew: An Environmental History of the Modern American Brewing Industry,” Yuanxie Shi with “Mao’s Clever Hands: Export Lacemaking and the Socialist Flexibility in the Cold War, 1949-1980s,” and Lillian Tsay, with “Sweetening the Empire: Sugar and Western-style Confectionery in Modern Japan and Taiwan.” Congratulations to all three and especially to this year’s winner, Lillian Tsay. Aside from these regular features, we have another full complement of research articles, almost too numerous to enumerate.
I cannot close without offering my sincere thanks to the many without whose support this role would have been immeasurably more difficult. I want to thank everyone who has served as an Associate Editor, Review Editor, or Editorial Board member during my tenure. Likewise, I want to thank all members of the Print Media Oversight Committee, BHC Presidents, trustees, and other officers of the organization. The start of my tenure also marked a change of publisher, from Oxford University Press to Cambridge University Press. It has been a fantastic working relationship. In particular, I want to thank Chris McKeen and Lucie Hudson-Grant. Adam Albright, of the Hagley Museum and Library, has supplied us with his wonderful cover images throughout this period. Lastly, but very far from last, my deepest thanks go to Roger Horowitz and Carol Lockman. I owe you both so much.
